About the Shimano STEPS BT-E8010 Down Tube Battery 504Wh

Communication between the pack, display and motor often runs over a data connection, which is why batteries are usually tied to one particular drive system. Closest alternatives by price: DiroDi Rover Gen 1-4 Battery 48V 15.6Ah ($730), Aventon Level Replacement Battery 48V 14Ah ($715) and Rad Power Safe Shield Semi-Integrated Battery 14Ah ($714).

Small businesses running delivery or rental bikes can benefit from standardising on one pack type so that spares are interchangeable between machines. Charge with the charger designed for that pack, avoid leaving it plugged in unattended, and follow the maker’s instructions for temperature and charge limits.

Listed as suiting 3 vehicles in the catalogue, including Merida eSpresso 300 SE, Merida eSpresso City 300 EQ and Merida eOne-Sixty 7000. Shimano has 6 products listed, from $27 to $860.
